Is It Safe To Cut Atenolol In Half If It Has No Score Line?

I am currently taking Atenolol 25 mg but my Dr said to cut them in half to ween me off. The 25mg have no score lines so im.not sure if it is safe to cut. Also have you heard of Tenolol 12.5 ? Is it the the same as Atenolol but half the dose ? Should I ask my Dr. If that is an alternative to splitting the Atenolol 25 in half ? Thank you
