I Do Have Lots Of Sore Throats

The problem I have been having , several times over the last year and 1/2, I develope a really bad sore throat, for no reason. I look in my throat and on both sides it looks bumpy? I have seen white bumps in the past but not this time. I use salt water and the doctor gave me antibioits, two weeks ago. It is still bumpy and I do have a sore throat. No fever that I know of. I have had a post nasal drip. Would that cause cronic tonsillititis?Should I have them taken out. I had a Anterior cervical discectomy and fusion in Aug.08, and since have devoloped thyroid diease, and I would say this problem with my sore throat thing. Any help/suggestion would be great. Thank you for your time and I look forward to hearing from you soon.

Hi..  Persistent inflammation can result in a chronic changes from occuring.. It either can cause pharyngitis where the measure is to treat the cause for inflammation or tonsillitis where surgery can give symptomatic relief.. A physical examination would be able to differentiate among the two as both the entities are possible.. Hence consult a doctor and then things will be much more clear..
