Hi,I am Dr. Prabhakar Koregol (Cardiologist). I will be looking into your question and guiding you through the process. Please write your question below.
I have High Blood Pressure, I m on medication for it. A coworker brought in a digital blood pressure monitor. He checked his it was 113/80 , my supervisor checked his it was 135/80 but when I checked mine it was 149/124. I m still not really sure what the numbers mean but I know that s high, my question is when is it too high where I would have to see a Dr. right away? Should I be worried? I m kind of in a panic and I know that s bringing it up even more so could someone please ease my mind....Thank you
Systolic blood pressure refers to the pressure of blood in the artery when the heart contracts. It is the top (and higher) number in a blood pressure reading.
Diastolic blood pressure refers to the pressure of blood in the artery when the heart relaxes between beats. It is the bottom (and lower) number in a blood pressure reading.
However, your blood pressure is high! You need to go back to your Doctor. I do not know how long you have been taking your BP medication. But, you may need a different medication for lit. Or the doctor might have to add something to it. Don't beat around the bust about though! Take care of it now!
