Increase In Cough After Taking Micardis. On Controlled Diabetes Using Insulin. Should I Stop Taking Micardis?
Hi My name is Margaret, I have been taking Micardis for about 6 years now and have noticed an increase in my cough, as a matter of fact my husband keeps telling me to go see a Doctor but my doctor tells me it is caused by medication, Should i just stop taking it for month and see if it abates or should i go on a different medication.
Is it safe to just stop taking it? I have controlled diabetes but am on insulin I do not have access to my email address at present as it has cutme out for lack of use
Hello, Your cough could be due to result of consuming MICARDIS or it may be caused by congestive heart failure which can be due to side effects of MICARDIS or it can be due to long standing hypertension and diabetes. MICARDIS is known to cause rhinitis, sinusitis, allergic bronchitis etc in 1-5% of people taking MICARDIS. You should consult a cardiologist and get cardiac evaluation done and switch your drug. You must not stop the drug of your own and must abide by the instruction of your doctor. Thanks
