Infant. On And Off Coughing Like Something Stuck In Throat After Eating A Tomato With Skin. Concerning?
HI, I have a 7 and half months old daughter who had tomato yesterday afternoon that had skin on it, last evening she started some coughing from time to time and it seems distressed her when she coughs. However, she did stop coughing after she fell asleep.Every time she coughs, it sounds she has got some thing stuck in her throat, she is breathing ok at the moment though did woke up more than usual last night, should i worried about her and take her to see the DR today or should i just observe first from now on?
It is possible that she got some part of tomato that has gotten into her throat or larynx which then provoked the coughing. Now the tomato might have come out but there still a little irritation or inflammation due to the presence of foreign body in larynx/throat. All you can do at this point is observe for about 48 hours again and if cough persist or distress comes up, then you need to go to the ER immediately. It should normally clear off within 48 hours if it is mild but if condition is serious, then she would not feel any better as time goes on.
