Yes, if you can. My 20 month daughter been coughing for the lat 8 weeks. Her dr refer as to specialist . He thinks she is developing asthma???? She is scheduled for Jen 13th to be see by specialist. But she still cough vomit and bring up thick green and brown stiff and wheezing. I don t know what to do till her appointment ........ Please help.....
Hi dear, thanks for your question at HCM 1yr 8 month old child having cough for 2 months - first of all we have to consider common diseases first. 1. Pneumonia - is your child treated for pneumonia with antibiotics. Any Chest x-ray done - is it showing any infection?? 2. Tuberculosis - most common cause for cough last >4 weeks. In India everybody is at risk of developing TB if their immunity is low as we are exposed to the bacteria. Chest x-ray and a skin test called Mantoux test needs to be done to rule out TB 3. Foreign body aspiration can also cause this - if strongly suspected endoscopy to be done to confirm it
At this age considering asthma is difficulty unless your daughter is having any allergy (skin, dust), having repeated episodes of cough and wheeze requiring nebulizations and very strong family history of asthma, allergies.
You can take a second opinion with another pediatrician if the specialist appointment is scheduled for a later date.
