Infant Having Constipation. Doctor Prescribed Nutrolin Syrup. Is It The Right Medication?
Hi doctor.my daughter is 2 year and she is having constipation.Every 3 days only she pass stool and it is too tight.We consult one doctor and he prescribe nutrolin B syrup.But i saw nutrolin B usually given for diarrhoea.Is it ok to give nutrolin B for constipation.Please give reply doctor.Thanking You My email: YYYY@YYYY
Nutrolin is primarily given in diarrhoea. Your doctor may have a specific reason for prescribing it to your daughter, you may want to speak to him regarding the medication and its indication.
In terms of your daughter's constipation , initial treatment would consist of increasing her fiber intake. This means ensuring that she uses at least 5 servings of fruits and vegetables daily along with adequate amount of fluids.
If she remains constipated despite an adequate fiber intake then a pediatrician will rule out any other possible causes of constipation in children prior to the initiation of medication.
