Infant With Congenital Hypothyroidism Has Constipation And Insufficient Sleep. How To Manage This Condition?

My 1 month old was diagnosed with congenital hypothyroidism & he is currently on medication. Our problem is that he is constantly straining to go to the restroom & when he finally does it sounds like a mini explosion in his diaper. Also he always wants to feed & sleeps for about 2 hours tops. Throughout the night he strains & strains then cries to be fed. Also his tummy is making gurgling sounds. What can I do to make him go easier? His stools are in between of loose & paste like.

Hi,
Thanks and welcome to HCM.
Most probably your baby is suffering from infantile colick which common in the first three months of age.
Give Colicaid drops 4 times daily,
Within 1-2 days you will find the difference.
constipation is the usual feature of the disease.
By complying to doctor's instructions regarding administration of L-thyroxine you may get over this problem.
