Infant With Recurring Stomach Pain. Could It Be Lactose Intolerance?
Can my 2 year old just start being lactose intolerant? Twice in the last week she drank milk before bed and shortly after drinking it she s crying, lying on the floor or in my arms in terrible pain that seems to be abdominal. But it doesn t happen every night nor has it happened during the day. Any ideas? I m starting to get very concerned. The first time it resolved in about 2 hours, with the pain coming and going and her sleeping in between. Tonight it seems to be lasting longer, again with leaping in between periods of waking up in pain. Thank you.
Hi,
Thank you for your query,
The pains that wakes the child from sleepin is significant pain ans should be evaluated.
Severe pain in lactose tolerance is uncommon.
Common causes of pain like worms, colic, urinary tract infections to be ruled out with appropriate investigations.
Ultrasound abdomen is required to look for any lesions.
Physical examination is important to look for any tenderness.
So consult your Pediatrician for the examniation and for the management.
Hope I have answered your query.
kindly get a stool tests for reducing substances and routine, a urine routine and possibly an ultrasound of abdomen to know the reason for pain abdomen because it is recurring and severe and hard to explain without examining the child. it could not be lactose intolerance as there is no diarrhea.
