Infant With Temperature Of 39, Diarrhea, Rapid Breathing, Cold Hands And Feet, Refusal To Intake Solids. Advice

Hi, my baby is 11 months old. He is getting temperature of 39 and above since Monday evening. He is also having diarrhea. His breathing is rapid when he gets fever and his hands and feet are cold. Went to GP and A&E several times. They say it s viral and don t prescribe any medicines. It has been 5 days since he is getting this. No recovery. He is refusing solids and just having milk. Pls advise.

Welcome to Healthcare-Magic

Greetings of the day

Hi

Presence of diarrhea with refusal of foods along with rapid breathing suggest that baby is having severe dehydration.
It's a valid indication for inpatient admission in pediatric unit. Just giving oral rehydration solution will not correct the fluid deficit.
It will require
1. Intravenous fluids
2. Correction of electrolyte imbalance

Would suggest you to discuss this with your emergency room physician . Seek medical help at earliest

Take care
