Tinnitus is a symptom and not an infection. According to your description, it seems to be a middle ear infection, which is commonly referred to as otitis media with or without fungal infection. It requires a complete examination of the ear without which it is difficult to comment about your problem. Also an audiometry done will help in ruling out any damage to the inner ear.
As of now, avoid any water into the ear and consult your doctor at the earliest.
