Intense Chest Pain Over Years At Random Times. Not Able To Find The Cause Of Pain. Any Ideas?

I have been having these really intense chest pains over the last few years. They just come and go at random times. So long as I can remain calm they don't hurt quite as bad. When I go to the hospital or a doctor they tell me that they can't find anything wrong and put me on pain meds. Pain meds do no good bc by the time I get them I am not hurting anymore and may not again for several months. I was just wondering what it could be

Hi.

From the description provided it looks like you present to doctors with symptoms that indicate a heart condition, which might direct the doctors to investigate your cardiac profile and find nothing abnormal.

But what you need to know is that many conditions mimic the presentation of heart conditions like a heart attack. They include gastrointestinal conditions like peptic ulcer disease, irritable bowel syndrome, inflammatory bowel disease, etc; or even conditions related to the bones and joints of the chest like Tietze's disease or costochondritis.

If your cardiac profile has found to be normal, then I would suggest looking into conditions that can cause such a presentation, like the above listed ones.

Hope this helps.

Take care.
