Intercourse During Periods, Burning Sensation In Abdomen During Urination, Orangish Urine Post Taking I-pill. Treatment Required?

Hi, I had an intercourse, but before ejaculation the guy pulled it out. It was my 4th night after period. Just to be safe I took an ipill. Now I am feeling a burning sensation in my abdominal area, while peeing and the pee is orangeish since i took the pill. Some people said that this burning sensation is normal and will go in a day or two and is merely a side effect of ipill and the others are saying that it could be a serious thing leading to some infection. what should be rite medication for this. Is a doctor consultation really required? and will a urine test detect traces of ipill.

Hello

Welcome

I think you are having UTI for which take urine alkalizers.

Give urine sample in the lab to see any pus cells.

No the I pill traces will not be detected on routine test

Take antibiotics if there are pus cells in urine after consulting your doctor.

Best wishes

General & Family Physician Dr. Divya Kuttikrishnan's  Response
Hi there.

Thanks for writing in.

The possibilities I can think of : side effects of I-pill or a urinary tract infection or mild trauma to the perineal area during the act of intercourse.

I would advise you to drink 8-10 glasses of water daily. A glass of cranberry juice might also help.

Ensure periodic regular emptying of the bladder , maybe every 3 - 4 hours.

Ensure double voiding. Pass urine normally at night before going to bed. 15-20 minutes later, pass urine once again to make sure the bladder is completely empty.

Abstain from sexual intercourse till you get better. After that, empty the bladder before and after the act of intercourse.

Wash the perineal region with warm water and keep it dry with the help of toilet paper.

Ensure good perineal hygiene.

Hopefully you should get better in a day or 2. If you don't feel any better by that time, get a urine test done to look for evidence of urinary tract infection, which might then require antibiotics.

Hope this helps

Regards,
Dr. Divya Kuttikrishnan
