You can consider repeating the test or having blood taken for HCG. The urine
pregnancy test also look for this hormone, the levels rise as the pregnancy progresses.
If you are pregnant and it was low then then repeating the test in a few days may be best.
If you repeat the test or do the
blood test (can detect HCG earlier) and the test is still negative then you may have to look at other causes of delayed period.
This would include: (1) emotional or physical stress (2) inadequate diet (3) high levels of
thyroid hormone (4) high levels of a hormone called
prolactin which is released in a part of the brain (5) extreme physical activity (6) PCOS- this stands for
polycystic ovarian syndrome. It is a common cause of delayed periods.
If the repeat test is positive then you may want to consider visiting your doctor for an assessment.This would include blood tests and possibly an ultrasound
