Hi,I am Neethu Vipin (Dietitian & Nutritionist). I will be looking into your question and guiding you through the process. Please write your question below.
Is 1100 Calories In 24 Hours Enough To Sustain Life?
My brother-in-law is on life support at home, and recently has shown some problems in digesting the liquid food that is poured into his stomach tube. His wife is testing his limits by feeding him small amounts of food around the clock and so far has got him to tolerate about 1100 calories in a 24 hour period. Is this enough to sustain life, and if so for how long? At present he is not receiving any physiotherapy and essentially lies on his back or side all day. He is 6'3" tall and at this point has very little body fat.
Nearly everyone has wondered how many calories they should eat.Your metabolism is as unique as your personality. Everyone metabolizes fat, carbohydrates, and protein in different ways. In order to calculate how many calories you should eat, you need a little bit of information first. What you don’t need is your height or age. What you do need is an understanding of how many calories you burn, and what you’re trying to accomplish.
