Is 14 Days HIV Test Conclusive Enough?

hi
i have been having an affair with some one over a year now whom i have recntly found to be on antiviriol medication for hiv . i had the rapid insti test and the duo p24antigen and hiv1 and 2 which both come back negative 14 days after exposure. I am planning to have the 28 days test as well . would the 14 day test be conclusive enough i suppose what are the chances of of 14 days negative turning out to be positive

Hello
Read this carefully and you will get your answer.
The standard screening test for HIV infection is the detection of anti HIV antibodies using as enzyme immunoassay ( EIA).
This test is highly sensitive ( >99.5%) and is quite specific. Western blot is the most commonly used confirmatory test and detects antibodies to HIV antigens of specific molecular weights.
Antibodies to HIV begins to appear within 2 weeks ( 14 days ) of infection and the period of time between initial infection and the development of detectable antibodies is rarely > 3 months.
The HIV p24 can be measured usinf an EIA type capture assay.
Plasmap24 antigen s level rise during the first few weeks folloowing infection, prior to appearance of anti-HIV antibodies.
I mentioned in detail so that you could understand better.
Hope this will help you.
Good luck.

Hi

I admire you for positive outlook.

I understand your concern.

Only 14 days is not enough for conclusive test.

P24 antigen test comes positive usually after 3 weeks.

Go for it after one week more.

Thank you.

Take care.
