Hi doctors. I am 49 years with a history of glucose intolerance. I saw a cardiologist recently about shortness of breath after little exertion despite frequent exercising. He prescribed Thiapril (Ramipril + Hydrochlorothiazide), Lasix, and Aspirin. I have been trying to find out without much success those things that are contraindicated with this course of treatment because I have been having a persistent low grade headache and constipation. Also, I have just read somewhere that Aspirin is contraindicated with Lasix; is that true? Please help.
Hello Lasix i.e.furosemide is a potent diuretics and when this prescribed with aspirin , no untoward effect reported except that analgesic ( aspirin ) reduces the diuretic effect of furosemide . Hope you understand this thing that only aspirin reduces lasix effect , no other any side effect . In your case your cardiologist also prescribed hydrochlorothiade ( this is also diuretics ) so the purpose of diuresis solved , so need not to worry. While other drugs like ramipiril can be given concomitantly. Hope this information will helps.
