Hi,I am Dr. Santosh Kondekar (Pediatrician). I will be looking into your question and guiding you through the process. Please write your question below.
My doctor has prescribed 4 puffs of Asthalin inhaler every 4 hours for my 12 year old son,weight57kg.He has viral fever and mild wheezing. Earlier he used to prescribe 2 puffs SOS basis . My son is on flow hale 50 , 2 puffs a day for last 5 months and before that flow hale 50 for last 6 years everyday one puff.Should I give 4 puffs every 4 hours as it means overdose ? If I don't give will it lead to some other complications ?He is normal and does not need any asthalin normally.I am worried if this dose of asthalin is ok or ld I continue 2 puffs.
Hi, Thank you for asking question on health care magic. Asthalin is a bronchodilator and it is used for wheezing either through inhalor or nebuliser. The dose is need based. If the wheeze is controlled you may reduce , if not you may increase the dose. Usually 2 puffs twice daily will do. For control of fever paracetamol is the drug of choice. Hope this answer will serve your purpose Please feel free to ask any more queries if required Take care Dr.M.V.Subrahmanyam MD;DCH Associate professor of pediatrics
