Is Ativan Helpful In Treating Esophagus Spasms?

I have been on Ativan for 2o years because I have a variety of Digestive issues. I m allowed to take up 12mgs a day. I usually don t take that much but that is what I can if needed. Now my new Dr. wants to take me off Ativan because she feels that it won t help all the spasms I have? I dis agree with her. Why take me off something if it works. I ve had lots of tests to diagnose my esophogus spasms, hiatal hernia, GERD , IBS etc. What do you think?

Hello and welcome to Healthcamagic.
This is not usual medication for esophageal spasms and some other drugs such as baclofen may be used .Also you should do gastroscopy to rule out other disorders of stomach and esophagus.
