Hi,I am Dr. Amitkumar Sharma (Internal Medicine Specialist). I will be looking into your question and guiding you through the process. Please write your question below.
Is clonazepam a sleeping medication? Online it says it prevent seizers, but don t say anything about sleeping s. I am having severe sleeping disorder due to a recent loss of my husband. My doctor prescribed me that. Let me know if I should take that one on a regular basis. Pharmacist ask me its very strong and I should try not to take it.
I have read your query and understand your concern. Yes Clonazepam is given for sleep. It is short-acting Benzodiazepine medicine which is usually prescribed by psychiatrist for sleep disorders. However, it has addiction potential so it has to be taken carefully. It is not recommended for long-term treatment. You can take it for maximum months then you have to reduce and stop it otherwise, you will get habitual.
Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.
Regards, Dr. Prashant Gohil
