Is Crocin And Meftal-P Drugs, Safe To Intake Simultaneously?
Hi, my two years old son is suffering from High fever(102 - 103) since last three days. The other symptoms are running nose and cough followed by vomiting and lose stool. The doctor says it is viral and we are awaiting a test report(T/S - related to throat) which takes 48 hours. Crocin was not affective in controlling fever so I am giving intermediate dosage of mefal p. Is it safe to use both drugs simultaneously?
Both are prescribed more or less for same purpose, so you can give safely and also simultaneously without any side effects, if symptoms are not under control.
As high fever is present, so cold sponging also help inspite of the fact that child is having cold and running of nose.
Throat swab report is awaited, so in such condition, I prescribe levofloxacin 10 mg/kg body weight once in day. It will not only cure throat but also control diarrhea.
So, first of all, give ondansetron 2 mg mouth dissolving tablet, after one hour of giving levofloxacin.
Since your son is also having cold, so dextromethorphan syrup will also help.
Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.
Regards,
Dr. Het Ram Bishnoi

Hello and Welcome to ‘Ask A Doctor’ service. I have reviewed your query and here is my advice. Meftal p is mefenamic acid, while crocin is paracetamol.
