Is D And C With Ablation Advisable For Clotted Bleeding And Irregular Cycles, And Will It Halt Periods Permanently?
Hi, I am a 43 year old (Trans male/Gender dysphoric) and never in my life I had issues with my cycles. I never had a male partner so never had anything inserted. After Covid vaccine, I started having irregularities in cycle with prolonged periods. I was given pronorthepidrine which caused scary huge clots and to stop the heavy clots I was given transemic acid for 5 days & it stopped bleeding for 3 months. I am again having irregular cycle just spotting or sometimes here and there small clots. My gyn has advised me d&c with ablation. my question is being virgin can d& c be done? Will ablation stop the periods forever?
Irregular cycles commonly occur due to hormonal changes. In case of excessive bleeding, or emergency situation D and C can be done in a virgin. D and C procedure helps in reducing the bleeding. However, ablation in some may cause cessation of bleeding. Endometrial ablation is recommended when one has heavy periods and does not plan to have children in the future.
