Is Derobin Safe For Treatment Of Alopecia Areata?

I had been diagnosed with Alopecia Areata and have two circular bald patch on my head. they are of the size of a rupee coin. I was prescribed with Mintop 5% and Flucort Forte to apply twice daily for 6 weeks. To apply Mintop first and after 15 minutes Flucort Forte. After examination after 6 weeks the doctor told very fine hair has started to grow in one of the patches and there has been no further incidents. He restricted the use of Mintop and Flucort Forte once in the night only. And prescribed Derobin Ointment for use in alternate days, to apply 30 minutes before the bath and then wash it off with shampoo. I am little apprehensive in the use of derobin after going through the literature, kindly pardon my ignorance and advise.

Dermatologist 's  Response
Hi,

Alopecia areata is an autoimmune disease of unknown cause. There are many drugs and remedies to cure the disease. Derobin is a strong irritant. So, it is not safe to use it, as it may cause severe irritant contact dermatitis.

Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.
