Is Doxycycline Effective In The Treatment Of Runny Nose And Cough?
I have had a runny nose for 2 days followed by a nasty non productive cough and some wheezing. I m taking albuterol and cough suppressant. The albuterol helps but the Benzonatate did not so I substitute robotussin. X rays indicate that my lungs are OK. My doctor also prescribed Doxycycline - is this last overkill?
The runny nose and cough may be due to acute viral rhinopharyngitis.
Antihistamines and decongestants may be useful. Doxycycline may be not be effective than Penicillin. You may use tablet Amoxiclav. If symptoms not improved please consult your doctor, he will examine and treat you accordingly.
Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.
