Is Duphaston Advisable For Abdominal Pain During 19th Week Of Pregnancy?

Hello Dr, Today, I started my 19th week. I visited yesterday my Dr because I have lower stomach pains whenever I move. But when I am relaxing there is no pain. But yesterday the Dr decided to give me Duphaston twice a day for 14 days, and I was wondering why now. Is there is any risk on my baby if I didn t take it (i.e. possible miscarriage) or you recommend I take it? Please advise as I am also afraid from the side effects too. Since the beginning of my second trimester and I am dizzy most of the times. My blood pressure is 100/70 and I was told this is low. Please advise. Many thanks, XXXX

Hi,

Duphaston is a progesterone analogue which is given to support pregnancy. It creates a positive and favorable for implantation and growth of gestational sac. Pain abdomen in pregnancy can be due to many reasons and should be properly evaluated. Duphaston will hardly serve any purpose.
