progesterone can help reduce the effect of unopposed
estrogen on the uterine lining which is helpful in the long run. Before resorting to
hormonal therapy you may also try other non pharmaceutical ways to manage the condition. If your weight is on the higher side loosing a few pounds itself will help regularize the cycle.
Even if your weight is normal regular exercise can greatly help in regularizing the hormonal imbalance. Healthy eating habits, yoga, good sleep and a
stress free life can have a positive influence. If
contraception is desired you may switch to OCPs, if there are no contraindications (after meeting your healthcare provider). You can also rule out other factors that causes PCOD by doing the following blood investigations - TSH, Prolactin
