I am 32 weeks pregnant I have mild preeclampsia and ive had a uti contiounsly for 2 years. My ob/gyn goy rid of it but I had it again. She recently called to tell me I have e coli present in my urine and she sent an antibiotic to my pharmasist. Im not sure is this anything serious or not and wanted to know was it.

Ampicillin should not be used because of its high resistance to Escherichia coli. It should be treated with first-generation cephalosporins. Evidence suggests that infection plays a role in the pathogenesis of preterm labour. All the best
