Is Estradiol A Safe And Effective Alternative Of Premarin For The Treatment Of Anorgasmia?
I am 66 and had my physical this year. I mentioned that I hadn t had an orgasm for almost a year, I have thinning vaginal tissue and am easily irritated. In the past I was able to have multiple orgasms with my husband who knows me well and has been my partner since we were 15. My Doctor suggested Premarin but it was $300. My pharmacist said that estradiol is a new generic that would be less expensive. it is at $100. when I read the side effects I felt this was NOT worth it. am I over reacting or is there something else you can suggest.
The hormone "Estrogen" is never to be taken at this age, except if highly indicated, using the least effective dose and for the minimal amount of time. It may cause serious side effects as endometrial 'uterine' cancer and breast cancer. I don't agree with your doctors. There are safer alternatives (mainly containing androgens) that your doctor could suggest.
Take care. Hope I have answered your question. Let me know if I can assist you further.
