Hi,I am Dr. Prabhakar Koregol (Cardiologist). I will be looking into your question and guiding you through the process. Please write your question below.
I have not had good luck trying 3 of the statin drugs...leg cramps even taking just 5 mg every other day. This was trying Crestor. Previously had tried Altorvastatin and Pravastin and they both caused more extensive leg cramps. My Dr. has now suggested ezetemibe. Now I m looking for more information on that drug and also the injection Rapatha. Thank you Gail
Yes leg cramps are usually seen in patients who are taking STATINS but mostly they are not severe enough or troubling enough to warrant stopping statins. However after reading the details provided by you it seems they have troubled you alot in which case you can give a trail of EZETEMIBE.
It basically acts by reducing the absorption of cholesterol in the body. Ezetimibe is only part of a complete program of treatment that also includes diet, exercise, and weight control. Follow your diet, medication, and exercise routines very closely.
I believe this will settle the issue. No need of going for injectables.
Good Luck
