My 5 month old son had a slight cough cold n fever and was prescribed fenistil drops. I too have the same cough cold and fever and right now th cold is more like an allergy cold. i was wondering if its safe for me to take the fenistil drops too? I am still breast-feeding.
Drops specific preparations are used for younger children. For elders other preparations are available. I would suggest you following things:
> keep baby's face covered when feeding so that droplet infection does not spread to him. > Take Diphenhydramine + Dextromethorphan for cough. > Take hot water in a cup, add 1 table spoon salt in it. Perform gargles (mouth wash) with it three times a day for at least 3 days. It will give soothing effect. > Take boiling water in a pot, put your head over the steam and cover whole with a sheet. Take deep breaths in it.(Avoid getting closer else it might cause burn). Do this twice a day.
AVOID: > Chilled water > Drinks > Spicy food
