Is Gamma Knife Radiosurgery Effective In The Treatment Of Essential Tremors?
I will be 91 in May. I am healthy, active and care for myself. Have had PD for 8 years. I had DBS 2 years ago in July. Because it became infected and 5 months of antibiotics did not cure the infection it was removed. I had Dr. Jonathan Carlson in Spokane do the surgery. My tremor is worse now and I am wondering about having the gamma knife treatment. Dr.Carlson had suggested it but I decided that because of possible worse reactions that I would not have it but now the tremor is worse and I am wondering if I could benefit from it. I am having more imbalance problems as well.
Hello Welcome to Ask a Doctor service I have reviewed your query and here is my advice. Looking to your age surgery is not advisable unless it is not risky or more invasive and it can only be decided by the surgeon who is going to perform the surgery, you have not given the clinical detail, like the symptoms that you have, what kind of essential tumor it is , where the lesion being situated in body you have not mentioned it. Hope I have answered your query, let me know for any further assistance.
