Glycomet (Metformin) is an oral diabetes medicine that helps control blood sugar levels. It is drug of choice for people with type 2 diabetes mellitus. Yes, like all drugs, metformin has its side effects (see the leaflet), but some of the side effects that can occur with metformin may not need medical attention. As your body adjusts to the medicine during treatment these side effects may go away. You should not use this medication if you are allergic to metformin, or if you are in a state of diabetic ketoacidosis.
