Is Grandpa Powder The Right Medicine For Migraine?

Hi Dr, I just tried grandpa powder for migraine headache. It worked. A friend brought if for me from South Africa. I don t know what the side effects are and if it s safe to take it. We don t have this medication in US, so I don t know anything about it. I have been taking Excedrine for years but recently it s giving me an upset stomache. So I wanted to try sth new and my friend gave me grandpa powder. What s your opinion on it?

HI,

Grand pa powder contains aspirin, paracetamol and caffeine. Caffeine is known to worsen migraine. Aspirin is not recommended for regular use in migraine.I would suggest you not to use it as high doses of aspirin can cause bleeding.Consult a neurologist for the treatment. He would ask you to take flunarizine or topiramate for prophylaxis and NSAIDS for acute headache.

Hope the answer has helped you.
