Is Istamet 50/500mg The Right Medicine For Hyper Acidity?

Hi, my HBalc is 8.1 taking Gemer 2mg and instamet 50/1000- 1/2 tablet. Now doctor has asked to take instamet 50/500 - 1 morning and 1 night. I have hyper acidity problem. Also taking Rosuvas - F10 in the night. Is it advisable to continue with is istamet?

Thanks for posting your query.

Istamet Contains a drug called Metformin. The common side effect of this drug is gastric irritation leading to gastritis.

If your hyperacidity problem is of short duration then you can take medications for hyperacidity like Omeprezole for few days and continue taking Istamet .

But if your hyperacidity problem is of long duration then you need to stop Istamet and get an alternative medicine.
