Is Korandil Available In The Indian Market The Same?
Hi doctor my mom is prescribed with Korandil but now the medicine is available in Indian market with different packaging. Like the pharmacist advised her to take the one big tablet before starting to consume the other tables of korandil why is it so?
Hello. Welcome to HCM. I have read your question and understand your concerns. Korandil contains Nicorandil medicine which we usually use in heart patients, it improves the blood supply of heart by dilating the blood vessels supplying heart.
Any Nicorandil preparation unless they are long acting preparations work the same. There is nothing like you have to take one large tab before others.
I usually start with a low dose like 5mg twice a day in my patients since longtime without any trouble. So you can take any of the Nicorandil preparation prescribed by your doctor. (many trade names available like K-cor, zynicor, Nikoran etc.).
Only important and common side effect is intractable headache which sometimes leads to discontinuation of the tab. Kindly consult your doctor if you have headache.
So, the korandil available in Indian markets are same.
Thank you. Have a nice day.
