Is Macrogol Better Than Cremaffin For Constipation?

My Father in law is bedridden after burr hole surgery for Subdural haematoma, but is recovering well. He has constipation on and off. We give him Cremaffin daily but sometimes, we need to use a suppository as well. We were wondering if Macrogol is better than cremaffin? What do you advise?

Hi
Thanks for trusting healthcaremagic for your health problem.

In this situation Cremaffin is better option than macrogol. As it is bulk forming so requires straining during defecation, which may raise peritoneal as well as cranial cavity pressure.
Cremaffin helps in smooth evacuation of fecal material without much strain, so it's better option.
Give him food having high fiber contents like fresh vegetables and fruits.

Regards
Dr. Hiren
