Is Meibomian Gland Dysfunction Completely Curable With Doxycycline?
i have been diagnosed with mild meibomian gland dysfunction (MGD) and prescribed doxycycline 100mg and ocusoft lid scrubs to use for a month. I am scheduled to have epilasek on both eyes after a month. I am wondering if the MGD could mean that I may have more infection during recovery and regeneration of the epithelium after surgery. Please advise
1. Meibomian glands are glands of the eyelids which secrete lipid layer of the tear film. 2. These glands are essential for normal tear secretions. 3. It is a chronic condition but with treatment the severity will cone down, no need to worry. 3. Hence I advice you to continue treatment as advised by your ophthalmologist.
Hope this is helpful to you. Do write back to me for further questions.
Thank you
