Is Melalite XL Carcinogenic If Used For Longer Periods?
I am 28 years old. I have very dark underarms. I'm using melalite xl cream for the past one month. Now my underarms look quite lighter. May I continue melalite xl cream for a couple of months because my underarms still have uneven patches. Is melalite xl is carcinogenic. Please clarify..
Hello and Welcome to ‘Ask A Doctor’ service. I have reviewed your query and here is my advice.
Do not use Melalite XL for more than a month as it will damage your skin. Please do not get deceived by initial improvement. Melalite XL cream contains Mometasone, Hydroquinone and Tretinoin. Mometasone is a steroid which on long term application can cause thinning of your skin, hair growth and white discoloration of skin. Hydroquinone on long term application can cause a condition called Ochronosis which can lead to brownish discoloration of skin. Tretinoin on long term usage can cause skin irritation. So, Please stop applying the cream and report to your dermatologist.
Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.
