Is Nature-Throid More Effective Than Levothyroxine For Treating Hypothyroidism?

A PA “doctor” took me off Levoxythyrine for my hypo and put me on Nature-thyroid. Worked well plus I lost almost 15 lbs in about 7 months! 170 to 155. She left practice. Now have a doctor in the group who doesn’t think Nature-thyroid is best in general, not specifically in my case. Back on Levoxythyrine and back to 170. What should I do?

Hello,

Natural thyroid and levothyroxin both is used for hypothyroidism. But natural thyroid is contain both T3and t 4 where as Levothyroxin contains t4 only.

Studies have shown natural thyroid therapy didn’t result in significant improvement in the overall quality of life; but it caused modest weight loss in participants.

So you can use levothyroxin also no problem. follow your thyroxine dose on TSH level. Please consult your Endocrinologist he will examine and treat you accordingly.

Hello,

Studies have shown that nature thyroid not more superior than levothyroxin. Nature thyroid using patients may loss weight more as compared to Levothyroxin.

Other than that no difference. So you can take Levothyroxin for regular basis. please consult your endocrinologist he will examine and treat you accordingly.
