Hi,I am Dr. Amitkumar Sharma (Internal Medicine Specialist). I will be looking into your question and guiding you through the process. Please write your question below.
Dear sir, I have recurrrance of one side headache on right side of head.i normally take Naxdom 250mg. it helps in reducing the headache. but is it advisable to take it permanently in future or it may effect my health for using it continously or there is any alternative to this.i normally get migraine once a week.
Naxdom is a combination of a pain killer belonging to the NSAID category and an anti-emetic ( prevents vomiting). It is okay to take it once in a while when you have the pain. Continuous usage can have adverse effects like all NSAIDs producing liver and kidney damages. Migraine can be prevented in many cases with the use of medicines in the category of betablockers and other drugs which have to be individualised. I have many patients who are very successfully preventing their migraine attacks. Non pharmaceutical management with proper diet, avoidance of precipitating factors including stress are also very helpful. I shall be happy to answer further queries if any. Best wishes, Dr. Noble Zachariah
