My wife, aged 42 is have Migraine for the past 3 years. She is affected by this frequently, say once in a week or 10 days. If she attends any function or too much of work or stress leads her to Migraine. Now our Neurologist prescribed Naxdome 500. Is it safe. Also please advise how to prevent Migraine.
Hello dear, I understand your concern about your wife.Your wife appears to be a case of 'definitely diagnosed migraine'.Naxdom or Naproxen 500 mg is absolutely safe and just the starting dose for adults.Recognition of trigger factor and eliminating it from the daily routine is the most important step for preventing migraine.Trigger factor can be anything which precipitates a migraine attack. It can be stress, sunlight exposure, smoking, alcohol or food items like tea, coffee or cheese.Medicines can be used to prevent migraine attacks and there are many class of preventive drugs like beta-blockers(propranolol),calcium channel blockers(flunarizine),tricyclic antidepressants(amitriptyline) or anticonvulsants(valproate, topiramate). You can discuss these options with your neurologist and take appropriate treatment.I hope this reply helps you.
