Hi, I am a 34-year old female and was diagonised with hypertension 3 years ago in my 9th month of pregnancy. My hypertension continued even after my delivery and since then i am taking Amilodipine 5mg and Tenormin 25mg daily. Recently I met a new doctor to do an echo and he told me that he would like to change my medication to Nebilet 5mg -once a day. Is this a better medication than my previous medication? the results of my Echo stated Trivial MR TR. I have been having an irregular heart beat for the past 6 years. Is there anything to worry? Please advice on my queries
Hi & Welcome. I appreciate your concern for the efficacy of Nebilet to reduce the high BP. Yes, it is good for the control of hypertension.
Amlodipine is a calcium channel blocker also useful in reducing the BP but its use may be associated increased heart beats, since you have irregular heart beats for the past 6 years, hence it should be avoided.
Nebilet (Nebivolol) is a beta-blocker which not only reduces the high BP but also reduces the irregular heart beats.

Is Nebilet 5mg Good For Hypertension?
Hi & Welcome. I appreciate your concern for the efficacy of Nebilet to reduce the high BP. Yes, it is good for the control of hypertension. Amlodipine is a calcium channel blocker also useful in reducing the BP but its use may be associated increased heart beats, since you have irregular heart beats for the past 6 years, hence it should be avoided. Nebilet (Nebivolol) is a beta-blocker which not only reduces the high BP but also reduces the irregular heart beats. Regarding the Echo findings of trivial mitral regurgitation and tricuspid regurgitation, there is nothing to worry at this moment. However if you get difficulty in breathing or swelling of the feet or syncopal attack (dizziness) you must report to your treating doctor. Hope to have answered your query.
