Is Nitrofurantoin Given For UTI While Suffering From Cough?
my Mom has been prescribed Nitrofuration for her UTI after not responding to sulpha antibiotic .she is 82 and has had a persistnen cough for 6 months. she is having a PFT in a few weeks for the cough shortness of breath. Urgent care put her on the Nitrofuration for this UTI. Is it safe given her condtion of the chronic cough

Hello and welcome to HCM. There's nothing to worry about taking Tablet Nitrofurantoin during persistent cough. The antibiotic is routinely prescribed by UROLOGISTS worldwide,usually, after taking urine for c/s.(culture and sensitivity. after a week, the medicine may be stopped in full dosage, depending on response.
