Hi,
Plan B is successful to the tune of 95%, if taken within 24 hours of unprotected sex. However, effectiveness decreases, if taken after a long time of sex & the effectiveness may become about 68-70 %, if taken within 24-72 hours of sex. The plan B, is effective, if taken during any phase of menstrual cycle. There are conflicting reports about its effectiveness during ovulation or post ovulation periods. According to some reports, this drug acts in every phase of cycle.
These reports claim that these tablet prevent release of egg from ovaries, if it is before ovulation, if the ovulation has already taken, it prevents fertilization of sperm with egg & if the conception has already taken place, then it prevents from
implantation of conceptive products to the lining of
uterus. Still, opinion is almost unanimous that, though it may be effective in every phase, but definitely effectiveness is less during ovulation and all the more less in post-ovulatory phase.
Take care. Hope I have answered your question. Let me know if I can assist you further.
