Hello and Welcome to ‘Ask A Doctor’ service.
I have reviewed your query and here is my advice.

Plaquenil is classically given in malaria infection. Only in some cases of Lupus it is given to treat skin irritation but the exact mode of action there is not known, I think you could have dandruff, for which I suggest you start using an anti-dandruff shampoo: leave it on wet scalp for 7-8 minutes and then wash off. Do this once every 2 days. Also kindly revisit your doctor to get your symptoms re-evaluated.

Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.
Regards,
Dr. Smruti Pevekar
