Is Plavix And Lipitor The Right Treatment For Blood Clots And High Cholesterol Levels?

I got a stint put in in May I am on plavix,Lipitor and baby aspirin . Do I need to go in and get my liver count checked? Also see what my cholesterol level is at? I had a follow up checkup and he said see you in a year. I don t feel that good on plavix and Lipitor .

Thank you for your question.
According to guidelines till one year after the stent procedure you need to be on Plavix and aspirin. Lipitor is for your cholesterol and you need to be on it for lifetime unless any problem is seen in the liver. It is advisable to monitor Liver functions while on Lipitor and Aspirin. I would have liked to know when was the last time you checked your cholesterol and liver functions and what was the level. If you have done checks in last 3 months and levels were normal then you can repeat after 6 months. If any abnormality then check after 3 months. After a year of Plavix your cardiologist may decide whether you need to continue Plavix or not based on your status and risk.
