Hi,I am Dr. Joan F. Tryzelaar (Cardiac Surgeon). I will be looking into your question and guiding you through the process. Please write your question below.
I have had one months supply of Pradaxa 150mg hard capsules it has now been discovered I have a substantial heart valve leak can I continue with Pradaxa or does this affect my condition? If so any alternative please NOT Wharferine due to difficulty getting blood from veins (only can get in hands etc. I am 75years Thank you.
Pradaxa itself does not effect the valve. It changes your risk of stroke from blood clots. It has a risk of bleeding .Both warfarin and pradaxa have a risk of bleeding. But it is one of the recommended blood thinners.
Pradaxa does not directly effect your valves. If there is any plans of surgery for your valve then pradaxa needs to be stopped in time.otherwise you can continue it.
