Is Prednisone The Right Medicine For An Itchy Skin Rash?
While on a 12 day prednisone taper for poison ivy I developed a very itchy rash and hives that came and went. The rash was on my stomach, chest, little on my back and thighs and my forearms. After the taper was finished the itchy rash and hives still came and gone but today my limbs feel heavy and tingly. I went back to the urgent care and explained my symptoms and he wants to put me back on a 12 day taper dose of prednisone again. I m not sure i even want to take it!
Hi. As per your case history of irritant dermatitis, my treatment advice is - 1. Avoid using any new products like soap or perfume. 2. Apply a soothing lotion like calamine lotion on affected region twice daily. 3. Take an antihistamine medication like levocetrizine twice daily for 7-10 days.
