Is Progynova Effective In Treatment Of Irregular Periods?
hello Doctor, I have pcod & hence have irregular periods. My doctor gave Gynaset so that I get my periods but even after waiting for 5 days I didnot get periods. Now my doctor has prescribed me Progynova 2mg & said that I will get periods after in 2 or 3 days. Will this work?
Gynaset contains derivative of female hormone progesterone which is useful in menstrual disorders in order to regulate irregular bleeding. Progesterone is responsible for proliferation of uterine endometrium as long as it is taken. Once stopped, the uterine growth stops and shedding starts which appears as bleeding.
Progynova contains estradiol which is also a female hormone. When estrogen deficiency is suspected in certain diseases like PCOD or during perimenopause, this drug is used. You can take the drug according to the schedule and watch for the bleeding pattern.
Hope I have answered your question. Let me know if I can assist you further.
