hi I am 7 week pregnent and I have peri sac bleeding internally My docor advised me proluton depot twice in week .Is it safe? I meet one more gyne and she presribed cyclogest 400mg in addition to proluton depot. I am liitle confused about it please suggest. Both are safe or only one is safe
Progesterone supplementation is very commonly used for managing internal bleeding or spotting in first few weeks of pregnancy and is absolutely safe and considered very effective. There is absolutely no harm in taking the medication and it can do more harm if you are not taking it. Regarding the dose and route of prescribing progesterone, it mainly depends on the size of the internal bleed, ongoing spotting and your previous history (of any early pregnancy loss).
If you are at high risk the doctor may prescribe both Cyclogest and Proluton. I just want to assure you that it is absolutely safe to take progesterone supplementation and it won't do any harm for the growing baby. If you could share with me the ultrasound report and your previous history I could help you better.
Take care. Hope I have answered your question. Let me know if I can assist you further.
